Attica 4th graders want to thank Illiana Antique Power Association for hosting Living History Days in Rainsville. Students enjoyed the afternoon grinding corn, using the hammer to ring the bell, sewing quilt pieces, pressing apples, making butter, tasting cornbread, and learning about Indiana history.

Mrs. Current's Principles of Management class learned the difference between units being produced and the assembly line process. The students watched "How it was Made" video on the ice cream process. Each student was in charge of the unit being produced (completing the whole process themselves) within a timed 5 minute period to see how many total sandwiches they could make on their own. The sandwiches were then assembled by specialization and timed for 5 minutes as well. The students found that the sandwiches on the assembly line went much faster than the units being produced. There were also quality control managers that watched every step of the process and jumped in to assist if a bottleneck occurred during the assembly. Of course, the students had ice cream sandwiches as treats.

Mrs. Current's Introduction to Business 8th grade class created skits over the electronic payment options that were recently covered in class. The students showed Debit/Credit card payments, P2P payments, Gift cards and Digital Wallet payments. The students have also been busy learning about check writing, how to make deposits, filling out check registers, what overdrafts are, types of loans and why budgets are important. This class gives a variety of different areas within the business realm, so the students have a brief introduction to the field of study.

5th grade has been learning about character traits this week. They had to pick out traits for each of their classmates. The students then turned that into a collage of character traits and decided which one best fit them. 🩷

Attica Elementary learned a new core value each month and for the month of September, our core value was compassion. Compassion is caring enough to do something about someone else’s needs. The students at Attica Elementary had the opportunity to practice compassion by creating toys for cats in need at the animal shelter. Together they made over 350 toys!!
